The Go Together group chat assistant is an optional texting feature of Go Together, operated by Purposed IT, Inc. Members of a group can text the group’s Go Together number to see and vote on the group’s plans, and get a reminder on days the group has something planned. Nobody receives texts unless they sign up for them as shown below.
How people sign up (opt in)
- A member signs in to Go Together (accounts are invitation-only) and opens More → Group chat assistant.
- Under Your number they enter their own mobile number and tick the consent box (it starts unticked, and the number can’t be saved without it).
- We text a verification code to that number; entering it in the app confirms the number belongs to them. Only then do they receive any other texts, starting with a confirmation message.
This is the form exactly as it appears in the app:
Your number
The number you text the group from. Replies and reminders go here; other members never see it in full.
What we send
- A verification code, then a one-time confirmation that texts are on.
- Replies to texts the member sends to a Go Together number: the group’s list, date polls and votes, a recap, and an “add this place?” question when they text a link.
- Reminders of the group’s plans: at most one a day per group, only on days with something planned, plus an optional weekly round-up the group owner can turn on.
Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. We never send marketing or promotional texts, and texts only go to members’ own verified numbers.
